About Us
The Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery, established in 1861, is
the first commercial pretzel bakery in America. The bakery and store
are newly renovated and now operated by the Sturgis family. Visitors are
welcome to tour the original pretzel bakery, learn the history of pretzel
making in America, and see old-fashioned soft pretzels being made by hand.
The bakery store features pretzels baked with the same techniques pioneered
by Julius Sturgis himself.
